The Best People I Know
The best people I know are serious about what they do, but they don’t take themselves too seriously.
Found what I thought was a note in my suit jacket at the gala this past weekend.
Turns out it wasn’t as fun as a secret handwritten letter,
Just something I had jotted down for a speech last year…quoting myself 🤪🤦♂️

Turns out I still agree with last year’s me.
You always want people to take things with just the right amount of seriousness.
Take pickup basketball…it’s zero fun if no one cares enough to compete.
But if we’re recreating the Malace in the Palace on the church playground,
Well, that’s no fun either.
I’m still very much a work in progress over here.
Turns out there’s some tension between self-awareness and self-improvement.
