I’m impatient. So impatient that I want to already be finished writing this essay even though I thoroughly enjoy writing. It’s just that, when I decide something, I want it to be reality right now.
This is most evident when I’ve decided on how to improve something. It doesn’t matter if it’s professionally or personally. When I see something that could be different at work, I want to see it be made brand new overnight. When I finally get serious about my health, I want to lose all the weight in a week.
But that’s just not how things work.
There’s rarely one magic bullet that immediately makes everything better. The only way to truly improve is little by little.
So the best way to improve, especially if you’re already “good,” is by making a thousand little improvements consistently.
Sometimes the hardest thing for impatient people like me is seeing what something could become and not being able to skip all the steps it takes to get there.
