It’s so easy to spot when other people are the problem
It’s so easy to spot when other people are the problem.
But man, it’s so hard to see in ourselves.
People say that certain individuals will never admit when they’re wrong. And maybe that’s true. But I think it’s far more common for us to suffer from massive blind spots when we’re the ones actually in the wrong.
I’ve had some screw-ups lately. I’ve fumbled a few projects at work. I didn’t get enough signatures on my election petition to be on the ballot. I lost my cool a little bit with my boys when they refused to get ready one morning.
I’m sure there are a thousand other little problematic things I’ve done or not done that I’m completely oblivious to. And I’m sure the people around me can see them plain as day.
I’ve always heard that the first step is admitting you have a problem. Maybe the next step of growth for me is admitting that I AM the problem and take some responsibility for the turmoil around me. Besides, you can never go wrong quoting a Taylor Swift lyric, right?
Can anyone else relate to this? Or am I just an oblivious a-hole? 😂
