I’ve had people tell me they think I don’t like ChatGPT. Truth is, I love AI and use it every day. I just don’t buy into all the hype. I also think we tend to use it in counterproductive ways.

You can scroll back and see what I don’t like about how we use ChatGPT, but here’s what I do like.

The top 12 ways I use AI daily:

Writing I don’t use it to “write for me.” I use it to proofread, check clarity, and test if my central idea comes through. Occasionally it suggests a phrase I keep, but that’s rare now. I’ll also ask it to help me lower the reading level of my writing, pick shorter and punchier words, and keep things in active voice when it makes sense.

NotebookLM “Podcasts” Google’s NotebookLM lets you upload PDFs, links, and more, then creates mind maps, quizzes, flashcards, etc. But my favorite feature is generating audio “podcasts” where two AI characters discuss the material. Surprisingly good.

Troubleshooting Code If I can’t figure out why my code is broken, I’ll drop it into ChatGPT. Nine times out of ten, it’s a small typo or syntax error…but it saves me hours.

Typos I’m the typo king. AI is great at catching them. Match made in heaven.

Handling Data This is where AI really shines for me: extracting text from PDFs or images, converting CSV ↔ JSON, formatting tables to my specs, and more. If it involves data, I usually give ChatGPT a try before diving in. Huge time saver.

Meeting Notes When I remember to use it, recording a meeting and letting AI summarize and pull action items is a game changer. I just need to be more consistent with it.

CustomGPTs These are powerful. I’ve built a few: one trained on my past writing to edit in my voice, one loaded with client data to generate audience insights, and yes, one that talks to me like it’s Ted Lasso.

Automation I’m exploring AI + tools like n8n to streamline agency operations. Early days, but exciting.

Research / Sources ChatGPT’s deep research mode pulls tons of quality sources fast. I still read the sources myself, but it saves hours of hunting.

Related Words & Ideas Great for brainstorming. I’ll ask it to stretch an idea, list related words, or explain the content in the voice of Gary Vee, James Clear, Ted Lasso, or Nick from New Girl. Weirdly effective.

RFP Responses RFPs are awful. AI helps me break them down, ask the right questions, and structure responses without losing my mind.

Explain It Like I’m 10 When my mom gets health test results or I run into a technical situation I’m not familiar with, I’ll ask chat to explain it like I’m 10 years old. Honestly, incredibly helpful.

I’d love to hear some of the ways you use AI in your day-to-day!
