Some things just stick with you: a movie, a song, a book.

For me, it was the book The Giver in fourth grade. It was the first time a piece of art spoke directly to my soul (unless, of course, you count the original TMNT movie in 1990).

There’s a moment in The Giver when Jonas, the main character, sees color for the first time. A flash of red from an apple. He would never be able to see the world in just black and white again.

These two pieces hanging on my office wall are a nod to that apple. They remind me of what resonated so deeply within me when I read the book as a child, and they help me remember what my job is really about while I work: helping people see the world in a new way.

At a pretty profound level, this is pretty much what I believe my purpose in life is… to challenge people to see things they’ve never seen before, so they can gain the clear vision to choose wisely for their lives.
